Manufacturing Supervisor Job at Nichols Portland, LLC
Salary Range: 70,000-90,000 DOE
Schedule: 2nd shift
Position Summary:
Supervisor will be responsible for initial employee communication, planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of material through the production cycle to meet customer demand.
Scope/Supervision/Interaction:
Position will report to the Director of Operations with the following responsibilities & expectations:
- Schedule and support weekend operations as needed
- Adjust employees schedule to ensure the required skill sets are available to support customer needs
- Positive and enthusiastic approach when supporting employees, colleagues, support departments and all Nichols Portland customers
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for area quality and production efficiency
- Utilize direct and/or indirect labor to maintain "on-time" delivery of items within their department
- Responsible for employee safety
- Maintain a variety of schedules, records, and reports pertaining to material tracking through the production cycle and availability of production resources
- Responsible for identifying employee development needs and monitoring adherence to policies/procedures
- Train and develop employees to ensure a flexible workforce exist to support fluctuations in business demand
- Write and conduct performance reviews of hourly employees as required
- Assist with the monitoring of inventory levels generating tracking reports and performing data entry as required
- Utilize visual management systems to communicate plan, progress, and continuous improvement activity
- Perform all other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- 4-year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management is preferred with an understanding in supply chain management.
- Minimum of 2+ years previous supervisory or leadership experience
Special knowledge, capabilities, qualifications:
- Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities
- Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
- Must be an innovator and embrace lean principles and practices
Job related demands (i.e. physical, travel):
- Ability to travel to vendor or customer sites
- Ability to speak and listen to express ideas
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 lbs. without assistance
- Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with presswork, machine tools, oils, and chemicals
