About Job

As a General Assembly Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the process design, operation, and implementation. The successful candidate will be able to build and improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability. This role will be supporting General Assembly manufacturing in the assembly plant located in Ohio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
  • Assist in the launch of new programs in assigned areas
  • Coordinate continuous improvement process and troubleshoot problems
  • Provide analytical assessments to recommend changes of current and proposed processes
  • Consult with management and engineering to implement plans and recommendations
  • Improve effectiveness of work order and task management in production environments
  • Coordinates engineering changes
  • Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, and cost
  • Develop standardized work, and process documentation
  • Participate in product and packaging reviews
  • Perform and maintain time studies to determine staffing requirements
  • Track product changes throughout design and build process and implement changes as necessary
  • Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment
  • Coordinate with Equipment Engineering and contractors
  • Develop process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) documents for new processes, technology, quality, ergonomics, follow-up on action items, managing lessons learned, etc.

Education and Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in Engineering or equivalent training and/or work experience
  • Experience with assembly plant processes & systems (Body, Paint or General Assembly)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Processes
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • High level of analytical ability to make difficult decisions and solve complex/unusual problems
  • High level of initiative and flexibility
  • Ability to teach and train others including coaching/facilitation skills
  • Ability to gather information, organize and make presentations to Senior Leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and learn quickly
  • Proficient level of computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar)
  • Ability to work overtime and travel as needed

Preferences and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • 5+ Years Vehicle Assembly Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Future program launch/execution experience.
  • Working knowledge of work measurement techniques

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • The factory has both office area and shop floor area. The noise level in the office area is generally quiet. Wearing of personal protective equipment’s (PPE) when visiting the shop floor is required.
