SUMMARY

Management and supervision of staff assigned to manage United Way’s Donor Networks including staff who oversee Emerging Leaders, LINC, Technology United, Diversity Leadership Society, and Pride United. Additionally, this position will manage and oversee our largest donor network, Women United. Responsible to develop, manage and implement effective strategies and tactics to increase donor engagement, and in turn increase financial contributions from strategic donor groups to United Way’s annual campaign. Collaborate and partner with Account Manager, Leadership and Community Gifts to develop and implement effective solicitation strategies to increase leadership contributions from donor network members; assign and support volunteer solicitors representing donor networks; and develop strategy, improve, and streamline leadership solicitation processes (primarily utilizing direct response tactics). Working closely with Major Gifts Officers, support and help to develop and implement effective solicitation strategies to increase major and planned gifts from donor network members where appropriate. Provide professional donor service and support to individual donors and volunteers, ensuring quality follow through and overall satisfaction. This position reports to Director, Individual Engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, but are not limited to:
DIVISON MANAGEMENT
  • Monitor staff performance to strategic goals/expectations and provide timely coaching & feedback.
  • Assist staff in identifying and managing top prospects within their assigned portfolios.
  • Oversee staff projects and committees as assigned as well as special assignments required by other divisions.
  • Remain current by having up-to-date knowledge of internal support processes.
  • Provide regular and timely communication with Management Team, cabinet leadership, ambassadors, and assigned volunteers.
  • Develop strategies to increase donor network member participation, engagement, and giving.
  • Refocus public perception of United Way from a three-month campaign to a year-round community impact leader in communications and interactions with customers.
  • Staff projects and committees as assigned, as well as special assignments with other divisions as required.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Increase the contribution and engagement level of individuals within the Donor Networks to meet annual goals. Build and maintain a strong and collaborative team, focusing on building consistency across donor networks and finding efficiencies by increased partnership among team members. Integrate all aspects of United Way’s development strategy in work plans. Demonstrate effective division leadership. Effectively communicate United Way’s value add to all constituents.

DONOR NETWORK & COUNCIL MANAGEMENT (WOMEN UNITED)
  • Initiate and prepare plans and strategies to increase contributions from Women United Members
  • Work closely with the major gifts team to identify major giving potential from all donor networks including planned giving potential.
  • Provide excellent service to Women United Council and members at large who include many top community leaders and high-level donors.
  • Manage the development and implementation of effective Women United strategies.
  • Manage and distribute all communications to the Council and members.
  • Manage the Women United fundraising efforts, including:
    • Event sponsorships. o Individual leadership and major gifts from members and prospects.
    • Identification and solicitation of new workplace giving campaigns.
  • Council Management
    • Identify prospects for and manage recruitment of Women United Leadership Council members keeping in mind United Way’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
    • Manage relationships with, and provide excellent customer service to Leadership Council members, who include many top community leaders and high-level donors.
    • Work with division co-chairs to establish the direction of the Women United Leadership Council and council subcommittees.
    • Organize monthly co-chair meetings, and quarterly council and subcommittee meetings, and event meetings as necessary for the Women United Leadership Council.
    • Work with (TBD) Leadership Council Board member to prepare Quarterly Board updates
  • Women United Event Management
    • Work with the Council committee members to coordinate all annual events including, but not limited to the annual Bruncheon and Spree events
    • Manage any and all other fundraising events led by Women United Leadership efforts.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective Donor Network members. Effective campaign plans are in place which link staff efforts with volunteer engagement to result in more dollars and more donors for United Way Community Campaign. All events and Donor Network activities are executed in an organized and satisfactory manner. All activities combined result in increased individual, corporate and workplace contributions to United Way.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD
All United Way information is held confidential. There is no disclosure of any internal United Way strategic information, or volunteer, vendor and donor information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage/supervise staff responsible for the management of donor networks and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring or effectively recommending hiring, and training support staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and coaching; effectively recommend performance-based increases; discipline employees; handling and resolving complaints and employee relations problems.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree related to marketing, sales, management or business, human services, or philanthropy from four-year college or university and 7+ years fundraising or related experience.
  • Understanding of marketing, sales or fundraising and customer service roles and general supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of non-profits, human services and philanthropy.

Ability to apply database management software concepts to practical situations. Proficient with computer applications such as MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, ANDAR, and the internet desired.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
