Maintenance Supervisor - Food Manufacturing Job at HireQ
HireQ is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor for our client in Chicago, IL who is capable of performing a multitude of supervisory functions in a flexible, fast-paced production environment. Under the direction of Management, this position assists in the supervision of maintenance staff by planning, directing, coordinating activities to maintain and improve equipment ensuring employee safety and maximizing the plant’s availability, product quality, and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and schedules work force efficiently to meet operational requirements delegating duties according to production schedule, preventative maintenance schedules and work order priorities. Assist in root cause analysis for quality issues on finished goods.
- Provides overall supervisory support for maintenance personnel which includes training, coaching, counseling, performance evaluation and directing activities of the staff.
- Train, motivate and direct employees to adhere to safe work methods by maintaining compliance with safety guidelines, reporting safety issues, and recommending remedial action to ensure safety in the facility.
- Seeks continuous improvement by recommending equipment, facility, and method improvements to promote efficiency, services, and reduce costs.
- Conducts periodic or special audits to identify technical skill gaps and works with staff members to develop those needs.
- Builds team chemistry keeping personnel safety, food safety and uptime as the top priorities.
- Maintains record keeping procedures and manages appropriate department records in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
- Responsible for orderly storage of parts and supplies within the shop and maintenance stores area.
- Lead and maintain continuous improvement efforts as they relate to equipment and process.
- Interface with vendors and customers as needed.
- Must be available to be on call and work rotating weekends.
- Responsible for all aspects of safety, continuous improvement/efficiency improvement and adhering to policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical engineering or other technical degree program preferred. Should be able to demonstrate a combination of relevant coursework and hands-on experience including supervisory responsibilities.
- At least 2 years’ experience in food manufacturing plants with industrial maintenance experience preferred. Ideal candidate will preferably have supervisory experience. (This is preferred not required)
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
- General knowledge of OSHA Codes, GMP's and sanitary design. Basic knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Proficient in CAD, Microsoft Suite, knowledge of CMMS, experience with PLC driven components is desired.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
