JST Global, LLC, was formed in 2020 between Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc, and Jacob Stern & Sons. As the largest US distributor of tallow, the joint venture was formed to serve the worldwide fats and oils market providing key ingredients in thousands of products in such diverse industries as, personal care, animal nutrition, plus the rapidly developing field of renewable fuels. Offices and processing operations are in Houston, Texas and Omaha, Nebraska, with a new facility under construction in Dakota City, Nebraska. We have logistics expertise to export products virtually anywhere in the world to meet our customers’ manufacturing needs.
This position is located in Dakota City, Nebraska, where our new terminal will receive and store tallow and other fats and oils, further process to meet desired product specifications, and distribute to customers across North America via truck and rail.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will serve as a member of the Dakota City Leadership Team. The Maintenance Supervisor assist in the final construction activities of the Dakota City facility and then lead maintenance activities to ensure maximum uptime and productivity from the operations team. This is a hands-on position and direct reports will include a Maintenance Mechanic. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be supported by the maintenance team in Houston, Texas.
RESPONSIBILITES AND ACCOUNTABILITES:
- Meet internal customer requirements to ensure we maintain operational capabilities for 24/7 operations.
- Monitor, maintain and improve operational capability of all equipment.
- Ensure equipment works properly.
- Solicit third party maintenance and vendor proposals for needed work.
- Plans and issues repair and work schedules to ensure safe and efficient operations of facility equipment.
- Repair and/or replace broken or non-functioning equipment through analysis of problem and determining what materials/parts are needed.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and complete repairs when appropriate.
- Works with Plant Manager to coordinate maintenance work tasks.
- Develop and follow a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
- Ensure terminal team is properly staffed, qualified, and trained to meet production needs.
- Ability to respond to callouts if needed.
- Ensure all operations are carried out safely in accordance with JST Global policies, procedures and meet all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (“EHSS”) requirements. Work closely with the EHSS Manager to ensure regulatory records are kept and procedures are followed.
- Promotes terminal cleanliness.
- Up to 10% travel as required.
- Issues and maintains work permits.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS DESIRED:
- Minimum 10 years management experience in industrial maintenance, refineries, terminal sites, or manufacturing.
- Technical School focus in a related field preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software.
- Project management knowledge.
- Knowledge of and understanding of boiler systems, air compressor systems, pumps, PLCs, 4-20 mA systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Must understand 480-volt systems and lower.
- Centrifugal and Positive Displacement pump knowledge preferred.
- Ability to use hand/power tools.
- Above average mechanical background and experience in servicing precision machine parts.
- Position requires strong observation, analytical and evaluating skills to report on and troubleshoot various types of precision equipment.
- Ability to operate forklift, carry deck, man lift and other light industrial equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents (regulations, policies, reports, bids, etc.), blueprints, P&IDs, PFDs, and other drawings.
- Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations.
- Ability to work closely with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.
