THE CATO CORPORATIONis looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic/Technician to join our team!

The Maintenance Mechanic/Technician will perform general maintenance on conveyors, electrical motors, material handling equipment, propane torch, man-lift, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, hydraulic systems, dock door, leveling equipment, racking systems, plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, air compressor, dryer equipment, and pneumatics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical material handling equipment, including transportation conveyors, sortation systems, and forklifts.
• Perform maintenance projects as assigned on: conveyor systems; to include installation, removal, and process improvement changes.
• Perform emergency mechanical repairs to failed material handling systems.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs to facility equipment.
• Identify and locate required repair parts for failed systems.
• Maintain accurate record keeping such as: work orders, time sheets, and parts request.
• Perform construction work like rough in and drywall, operate electrical testing equipment and maintain all mechanical equipment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of basic manual hand tools, powered hand tools as in drills, grinders, and saws.
• Have the ability to weld and utilize a cutting torch.
• Must possess knowledge of basic facility repairs as in painting, plumbing, and lighting.
• Ability to utilize and be certified in the operation of forklifts, powered pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
• Must be able to operate welding, plumbing and carpentry equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Flexible to work any shift and/or weekends and overtime work as necessary.
• Frequently stand, walk, stoop, and kneel; occasionally crouch, crawl or climb.
• Frequently use hands and arms to reach, push, and pull and to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequently lift and/or carry 50 pounds; occasionally lift over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise and moving machinery.
