MAINTENANCE MANAGER Job at UMass Memorial Health - Harrington
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, boilers and equipment, establishes policies and procedures by performing the following duties.Directs workers in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of Hospital machinery and equipment. Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, installing, and performing preventive maintenance of hospital equipment and utilities.Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet priorities.Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.Performs activities of workers supervised.Monitors all fuel levels, maintaining adequate supply to satisfy the hospital's energy needs, and orders fuel to insure an uninterrupted supply.Monitors boiler water treatment in order to prevent harmful deposits from interfering with boiler safety, efficiency and longevity.Participates on committees as assigned.Directly supervises four employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
