Summary:

Provides general oversight to residents’ care. Supervises direct care staff. Assesses residents’ condition and need for treatment. Monitors and provides medication administration and nursing care treatments. Reports to and supervised by the Assistant Wellness Director and/or the Wellness Director.

Functions:

POLICY/PROCEDURES/ADMINISTRATION • Contacts physicians, family members and other medical resources as necessary to ensure care is provided when necessary. • Documents all pertinent information in resident files. • Transcribes physicians’ orders and follows through. • Gives injections per physicians’ orders. • Monitors and administers medications to residents per physician's orders. • Reports all incidents to the Wellness Director. • Reviews resident records, documents and updates orders as needed. • Maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position. • Attends or completes a minimum of 12 hours of annual training on topics relevant to the community’s resident population. • Performs other duties as assigned.

RESIDENTS • Provides general oversight to resident health care needs. • Assesses resident's conditions during move in and throughout occupancy. • Teaches health topics to residents and staff. • Schedules resident's appointments as needed with physicians. • Provides hands on care to residents as needed. • Assists with resident activities and helps to transport residents to activities and/or meals. • Administers medications to residents and special treatments as required. STAFF • Assists in making assignments for CNAs in conjunction with the Wellness Director. • Supervises activities of nursing assistants. • Provides coaching, counseling and corrective action for CNAs in coordination with the Wellness Director. • Assists the Wellness Director with interviewing and hiring CNAs. • Provides the Wellness Director with input for CNAs’ annual performance evaluations. REQUIREMENTS • Current license by the Virginia Board of Nursing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. • Must complete the continued competency requirements for renewal of an active license according to the Virginia Board of Nursing and maintain original documentation of completion. • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time. • Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. • Must be CPR certified. • Must be in designated uniform during working hours. • Must have strong customer service skills.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
