HIRING: Licensed Psychiatric Technician

MARS GROUP is an organization that provides a variety of residential and support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Currently, MARS is looking for people to work in our Community Crises Home’s (CCH) facilities located in the Tulare/Visalia Area.

RATE RANGES:

LPT: $31.00 to $36.00 per hour

Essential Functions for all positions include but are not limited to:

• Provide care and training to the clients as outlined in the Program Plan and IBSP (Individual Behavioral Support Plan)/IPP(Individual Program Plan);
• Document clients progress towards formal objectives outlined in the clients IBSP/IPP;
• Attend any resident conference that may be required, including IBSP/IPP meetings;
• Competent to provide direct supervision of support DSP/RBT’s;
• Responsible party for giving direction to support DSP/RBT’s in the absence of House Manager
• Comply with the facilities policies, procedures, and regulations;
• Provide and supervise recreational activities in the facility and community;
• Treat each person with respect & dignity;
• Protects privacy, rights, confidentiality and physical/emotional well-being of all individuals;
• Keep the facility neat and clean: which involves sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, disinfecting, and deep cleaning;
• Prepare nutritional meals and snacks as specified by prepared menus;
• Supervise eating, involve clients in conversations at the table;
• Provide a home-like setting for all clients;
• Understand and follow clients’ rights;
• Assist each client with self-administration of prescribed medications;
• Recognize early signs of illness and the need of professional assistance;
• Utilize necessary community services and resources;
• Keep all doctor, dentist, eye doctor, etc. appointments as required;
• Maintain notes, charting, graphs, as required;
• Promote and celebrate special events for clients;
• Assist the Administrator in making full use of the emergency resources;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or licensee.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Current Psychiatric Technician License;
• Will maintain credentials required of a Licensed Psychiatric Technician;
• Completion of Register Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within 60 days of initial employment;

• Minimum 1-2 years’ previous experience working with developmentally disabled individuals with focus on behavioral issues (Developmental Center experience is preferred);
• Ability to review and implement IBSP/Treatment plans;
• Attend Individual Behavior Supports Team (IBST) or IPP meetings, as needed

• Understanding of psychiatric illness, its treatment and knowledge of psychotropic medication;
• Ability to administer oral and inject-able medications;
• Demonstrated ability to implement physical crisis and de-escalation techniques;
• The demonstrated ability to provide staff training, supervision, and planning;
• Monitors and assists staff as needed to ensure that staff knows, understands, and can carry out individuals’ Individual Behavior Supports Plan (IBSP);
• Must be competent in the areas of cultural sensitivity for the population being served, positive behavioral supports, trauma informed care, skills training, person centered practices, and utilize less restrictive techniques to address behavioral issues
• Attend shift and facility meetings;
• Valid CA Driver’s License;
• Automobile Insurance;
• Willing to submit to a TB, physical, and pre-employment drug screen: upon offer of employment;
• Willing to submit to fingerprinting: upon offer of employment
