Position: Licensed Nursing Home Administrator

Location: Bedford Alzheimer’s Care Center

Salary: $90,000 to $120,000 based on experience

Job Summary:

Bedford Care Center is seeking a licensed Nursing Home Administrator with an extensive background in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care. This position is responsible for planning, developing, managing, organizing, and directing the operations of the facility. This facility is a 60 bed all Alzheimer’s and Dementia care center, with the specialty care designation of an Alzheimer’s Unit. It is a Medicaid certified, skilled nursing facility located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Qualifications and Skills:

Must have a current Mississippi Nursing Home Administrator’s license, preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related field, or Business. Five (5) years’ experience as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator preferred with knowledge of Long-Term Care regulations, Medicaid and Medicare, Alzheimer’s and Dementia care, and principles and practices of Nursing Home Administration

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manages the operations of the facility; contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of objectives; complies with company policies and procedures and Long-Term Care Standards and Regulations
  • Monitors and regulates the employment and scheduling of personnel in relation to Resident census levels
  • Initiates and sustains employee retention efforts; conducts performance evaluations for Department Heads; approves all evaluations and disciplinary action for all personnel
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of Residents’ and employees’ Protected Health Information (PHI) as required by the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) as amended by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act
  • Maintains familiarity with Emergency Evacuation / Disaster Plan and ensures training of staff
  • Reviews Pre-Admission screening for new admits / re-admits with the Admissions Coordinator; provides guidance regarding approval of prospective Residents, considering their acuity level and the facility’s ability to meet their needs
  • Establishes and maintains procedures to ensure Licensed and Certified personnel have current credentials
  • Chairs and serves on various committees; ensures that departmental meetings are held at least monthlyConducts daily rounds, reviews findings with Nursing Director regarding Residents’ conditions indicating treatment/care changes
  • Evaluates Rehabilitation / Restorative Programs and ensures their effective delivery
  • Coordinates ongoing audits and assessments of quality care in accordance with the Q.A. Committee
  • Ensures Resident Care meets Federal and State Regulations and guidelines and is consistent with current standards of practice
  • Engages with Residents and their families on a daily basis to assist in the coordination of care and facilitate good communication
  • Provides guidance, counseling and discipline of employees and ensures appropriate documentation is maintained in the personnel file
  • Develops and reviews Plan of Correction for deficiency statements following State and Federal visits and ensures the facility follows the Plan of Correction’s compliance requirements
