Essential Functions
- Directs Maintenance Crews and discusses needs and requirements.
- Trains and provides work direction and guidance while performing work in one or more of the skilled trades.
- Assists Maintenance Manager & Maintenance Coordinator in scheduling work and determining needs for equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for the completion of all work assigned to in a consistent, timely and effective manner, referring unusual technical or personnel issues to Maintenance Manager.
- Perform various mechanical and electrical technician related duties; assist in the purchase, installation, repair and maintenance of equipment. Diagnose and repair electronic systems.
- Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements. Provides monthly and weekly safety coaching and compliance reviews.
- Operates a variety of equipment and machines including various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintains tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition.
- Assist in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of:
- Mechanical: bearings, shafts, chains, sprockets gears.
- Electrical: troubleshooting, wiring , sensors , servo motors, timers, PLC’s and panel views
- Pneumatic: air cylinders, actuators, pumps, valves.
- Hydraulic: hoses, valves, motors.
- Performs a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to doors, windows, roofs and other building parts.
- Performs skilled maintenance repair on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment; coordinate emergency repairs and large complex projects; troubleshoot and helping where needed to make plant projects successful.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Minimum of one year experience in a role providing direction and training.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices
- Experience in inspection of all included above and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection
- Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity consulting engineers when needed and driving a safety culture.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP’s and SQF audits preferred
- Bilingual – English/Spanish beneficial

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to lead, guide, train and grow the maintenance crew, by establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate with cross-functional teams across all shifts.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, conduct weekly safety training meetings, periodically review operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports, daily shift reports, weekly WO planning schedules and daily correspondence such as email using a computer. Attends meetings, makes phone calls with vendors and management staff.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, assign and review and audit work completed by team members.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, PHA documents, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others.
- Estimate labor and materials costs.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Meet schedules and time lines.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and power industrial truck. The employee is frequently exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Five or Six day work week schedule, which may include on occasion Sunday
