- Overnight: Sun-Thurs, 11:00pm-7:00am
- 3AM: Tues-Sat, 3:00am-11:30am
Reports To: Operations Manager or Site Coordinator
Pay Rate: $24.20/hour

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Migrant Shelter team as the Logistics Support Specialist Lead. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your coordination and process development skills and inventory management experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Logistics Support Specialist Lead plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by supporting the overall Shelter operations. This position reports directly to the Shelter Operations Manager or Site Coordinator and works closely with the other Logistics Leads and the rest of the Migrant Shelter team.
The Logistics Support Specialist Lead will provide program support and supervision to a team of Logistics Support Specialists. Responsible for coordinating most logistics functions of shelter operations. This position must prioritize the shelters operations and workflow with efficacy and efficiency to ensure tasks are complete and goals are met. Participate in the development of policies and procedures while ensuring they are documented, communicated, and adhered to. They will coordinate and assist staff/volunteers with providing other supportive services. Responsible for managing the movement of inventory.
Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision to Logistics Support Specialists; including time sheet management
- Evaluate and provide appropriate developmental/mentoring opportunities for staff
- Provide professional development and mentorship support to direct reports
- Conduct coaching and corrective action conversations with staff, as necessary
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Ensure that logistics team is aware of contents and adheres to JFS Handbook
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all persons connected to the logistics process
- Participate in shelter leadership meetings
- Coordinate, organize, and disseminate information in Logistics and Logistics Leads Meetings
- Takes ownership for team cohesion
- Coordinate with all functions of shelter operations to ensure guests needs are met
- Maintain careful records for any cash/card handling, and other relevant financial processes
- Creating and Developing Logistics process’
- Inventory management and stock auditing to meet the needs of shelter operations
- Assess and review impact of logistics change
- Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy
- Ensure staff are equipped and processes in place to safely transport shelter guests to/from partner organization and travel hubs
- Ensure shelter guests have all documents required for program exit and onward travel
- Operational assistance is provided to receive new guests into the shelter
- Anticipate and identify the need of all the activities of the shelter
- Provide support and direction to volunteers
- Receive, organize, and distribute donations
- Report needed supplies/donations needed for the operation to Program Assistant
- Enter, run, and review data for accuracy within the client database (ETOI)
- Handle all requests in an efficient manner
- Work in an environment that is fast paced, completing multiple tasks, efficiently, safely while meeting stringent timelines
- Maintains inventory and orders supplies as directed
- Monitor and support the quality-of-service delivery
- Monitor and support and the morale of the workforce
- Be available to receive and always respond to leadership phone calls and/or texts during shift.
- Follow prescribed procedures for safe meal and snack service
- Contact the appropriate entity as written in procedures define if there are medical or other emergencies
- Safely transport and guide shelter guests to/from partner organization, shelter locations, off-site appointments, and travel hubs
- Interact with guests to support welcoming environment, and direct questions and requests to the appropriate team member
- Participate in required training
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- 2 years supervision and leadership experience
- A valid driver’s license, car insurance, reliable vehicle and a clean driving record
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively
- Ability to offer professional and friendly service in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to provide support and guidance to shelter staff
- Ability to work effectively with shelter leadership and collaborate with staff at all levels
- Experience to manage, coach, and provide training for direct reports
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
- Strong decision-making skills in the midst of on-going changes
