POSITION SUMMARY

This position will ensure the growth and vibrancy of the lawns, gardens, and outdoor landscaping of the Messina Hof Estate. You will maintain equipment, landscape structures, outdoor facilities, and prune overgrown hedges. This position will require organizational skills and great endurance.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

·Maintain health, grooming, and visual attractiveness of all lawns and walking areas.

·Maintain all planting beds to be free of weeds or other pests, visually attractive and healthy.

·Design, plant, and maintain new decorative bushes, flowers, plants, edibles, and shrubs.

·Conduct pruning, trimming, and mowing on all plants and grounds to maintain health and visual attractiveness.

·Maintain restaurant gardens with approved produce to support restaurant operations and assist in picking and processing produce for the kitchen as directed.

·Coordinate with the General Manager to ensure the landscaping and garden meets Messina Hof’s expectations.

·Apply fertilizer, pesticides and other applications to ensure plant health and to help enhance the growth of the gardens and landscaping.

·Conduct general maintenance duties such as maintaining walkways, fixing irrigation, maintaining all landscaping equipment and other duties

·Conduct general maintenance repairs to equipment, landscape structures, and outdoor furniture.

·Perform other duties as required including assisting other departments as needed

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a landscaping or groundskeeping role.
• Must be able to operate maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.
• Strong knowledge of horticulture, pest management, and basic lawn maintenance.
• High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work alone
• Good stamina and physical health

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb up and down stairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
