Salary Range: $3,750 – $4,583/month plus benefits including fully paid family health insurance.
Full-Time, Permanent.

Summary of Work
Prepare fossils from rocks in North Dakota ranging in age from the Late Cretaceous to Holocene, with an emphasis on vertebrate fossils. Construct archival cradles for prepared specimens. Assist with oversight of lab volunteers. Help organize and implement one of the largest public fossil dig programs in the country. Assist with field surveys and excavations at research sites. Monitor stocks of lab consumables (e.g., adhesives) and maintain inventories of lab and field supplies. Screen wash rocks and pick microfossils from the resulting concentrate.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a field relevant to Paleontology or Museum Studies.
- One year (2000 hours) of experience preparing vertebrate fossils.
- Experience conducting paleontological fieldwork and collecting associated data.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Individuals selected for interviews must provide a portfolio of past preparation work.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
- Master’s degree in Geology or a field relevant to Paleontology or Museum Studies.
- Prior experience conducting public outreach related to paleontology.
- Prior experience with molding and casting techniques.
- Prior experience with screen washing and microfossil picking.
- Prior experience constructing archival cradles for paleontological specimens.
- Experience driving vehicles off paved roads and towing trailers.
