Our Laboratory Analysis apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge to tackle a variety of scientific challenges working in our manufacturing laboratories – the heartbeat of our company.

This entry-level, development opportunity offers you the chance to study towards nationally recognized qualifications while gaining hands-on, paid work experience. Our apprentices attend college part-time studying theory elements of the apprenticeship while working at a Haleon Manufacturing facility.

Laboratory Analyst apprentices at Oak Hill will be studying towards an Associate’s Degree in Biotechnology at Haleon’s partnering Community College. Over the 3-4 years in the Program, you will spend most of your week at the labs receiving tailored on-the-job training from our in-house industry experts, combined with early responsibility to help you develop and progress.

What will your individual contribution at Haleon be?

As a Laboratory Analyst Apprentice, you may get involved in the following activities:

  • Working as part of a team to support the routine analysis of raw materials, manufactured and stability samples using classical and chromatographic techniques as appropriate
  • Manage the smooth and efficient flow of samples and products from manufacturing, logistics and other areas on site to the laboratory.
  • Sample, test, report and validate final products, intermediates, raw materials, and in-process samples to defined procedures
  • Consistently operate to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratories Practices (GLP) standards to ensure compliant product testing
  • Maintain and calibrate a wide range of analytical equipment to ensure continual production of accurate and precise results
  • Utilise theoretical and practical knowledge to aid interpretation of results and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrate proficiency in routine laboratory information systems to interpret and report results
  • Work in a compliant manner to ensure the safety of yourself, others, and the protection of the environment
  • Learning about the process each drug or product follows through to full scale manufacturing
  • Looking for ways to improve safety, quality, and laboratory processes

To enable you to perform in this future talent opportunity:

Education required:

  • Must have earned a high school diploma or equivalency diploma by June 2022.
  • High school GPA 2.5 (“B”) or above (4.0 scale)
  • High school Algebra and Geometry or 2 units equivalent of academic math (GPA 2.5 or above in each case)
  • High school English (GPA 2.5 or above)
  • High school Biology or Chemistry (GPA 2.5 or above)
  • College enrolled students with 30 credits or less are eligible

Other requirements:

  • Have studied AP Biology, or Chemistry
  • Have studied more than 1 life science
  • Less than 2-years’ experience in lab (including intern or shadowing opportunity)
  • Less than 2-years’ experience in pharmaceutical or FDA interfacing industry (intern or shadowing opportunity)
  • Must be 18 years of age by the 1st of August 2022
  • Less than 2 years of related work experience since graduating from high school
  • If offered a position the candidate must be willing to enroll, and meet entry requirements, with one of Haleons partnering community colleges or technical institutions, in the preferred related instruction course.
  • Must be able to commute daily to Haleon’s worksite and related instruction facility
