Position Overview

Technical training specialists ensure that staff members receive the proper training to use computers and other forms of technology within the workplace. They also prepare targets for continued learning and training so that employees will continue to develop their skills. They are responsible for identifying areas where additional training may be beneficial due to technological advancements and how to ensure that staff members are capable of using the latest software or equipment effectively.

Technical training specialists work with staff at all technical levels of experience. They must identify the level of knowledge and experience the staff has and create appropriate programs designed to develop the necessary skills. Technical training specialist also train new staff when hired. They may lead training themselves through in-person classes or online instruction. As part of their duties, they also assess training outcomes to determine if the staff is learning the skills as intended and to identify areas where instruction can be improved.

Responsibilities

• To enhance the competencies of individual employees by assigning and conducting training.
  programs that will boost employee’s workplace performance in alliance with company’s core values.
• Managing all phases of training (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, deliver, monitor, and evaluate)
• Analyzes the needs of the organization to provide the appropriate education recommendations as well as the best delivery methods to impact educational gaps. Analysis of training effectiveness.
• Develop technical training courses for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced)
• Develop technical procedures and how-to documents
• Schedule in-house educational sessions using e-learning platforms
• Maintain training Application environments
• Acts as a subject matter expert on instructional material and design
• Owns the marketing strategy for SubCom Academy courses and events
• Supports change management activities. Acts as the training lead on all IT Projects.
• Support contracting activities with external learning vendors
• Consistently ensures that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with SubCom policies, procedures, and core values .

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience as a Technical Training Specialist, Technical Trainer or similar role. Additional certification in training (e.g. Certified Technical Trainer) is a plus.
• Experience in training in-person and virtual on technical or related topics Instructional practices, rapid adaptability to change. Hands-on experience coordinating an executing training events.
• Experience in developing technical course content both for novices and experts with technology
• Experience using Microsoft Teams Live Events is preferable
• Experience managing Learning Management Systems
• Demonstrative ability of simplifying complex ideas. Experience delivering training on technical topics to a non-technical audience
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and assimilate business processes and critical information workflows
• High attention to detail and QA of materials and courses
• Technical writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Strong influencing, relationship building, and communication skills within the team and with our stakeholders
