American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a IT Help Desk Technician at our corporate office in Columbia, MD. AWF manufactures at 11 locations spanning the nation, has over 450 employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales.

The Help Desk Technician will be responsible supporting users by fulfilling individual requests for information and/ or training in the utilization of the various applications.

Key Responsibilities of the Help Desk Technician:

  • Applies expertise to solve first level technical support issues for the end-users.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves basic software, network, mobile and hardware questions and problems.
  • Creates How- To documents and training manuals.
  • Maintains SolarWinds Helpdesk portal & reports.
  • Contacts senior level technical personnel as necessary.
  • Instructs users in the use of PCs, software, printers and networks.
  • Troubleshoots basic network issues with VPN and Citrix for all remote sites and users.
  • Designs and creates malware and phishing campaigns and monitors results to take proper actions.
  • Supports Director of IT on special projects and/or upgrades.
  • Assists with supporting Windows and Active Directory.
  • Primary for Zoom VoIP/phone support
  • Level 1 Office 365 administrative duties

Qualifications of the Help Desk Technician I :

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field
  • 1-2 years of help desk/I.T. experience
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn
  • Familiar with Kaseya Desktop Agent, preferred
