The Senior Project Manager - Interior Design leads the interior design team and works collaboratively with the building design team to make the interior spaces of City Schools' buildings functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.

Essential Functions
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages project activities, schedules, and assignments to meet project scope and requirements until final deliverable has been achieved and accepted.
  • Establishes schedules and check-ins with key team members to deliver projects on time. Communicates with team members throughout the design process.
  • Tracks and maintains project documentation for design projects.
  • Coordinates the review process for project documents for all stakeholders, and reviews design submissions throughout the project for compliance with standards and codes and for constructability.
  • Reviews interior products submittals, including (but not limited to) finish materials, casework, and signage.
  • Develops furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E) layouts for school spaces per the Design Standards and selects FF&E finishes. Coordinates with the architectural team.
  • Coordinates and oversees FF&E and other finish installation efforts. Manages the FF&E procurement process, process change orders, performs FF&E and finish reviews and creates punch lists.
  • Attends design meetings and provides design expertise for projects. Schedules and attends meetings as needed for project requirements.
  • Leads efforts to update the FF&E design standards for City Schools, including testing and recommending different and new finishes or materials to the Director.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field. Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight years of practical experience in construction management or interior design in a construction related field
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural design and construction.
  • Understands project management concepts and practices.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and design applications such as AutoCad.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize ongoing and multiple projects, to address multiple tasks, technical issues, and contingencies at the same time.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consultants, contractors, and Baltimore City Public Schools personnel at all levels.
  • Valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
