Overview
Utah State University is northern Utah's premier agricultural, engineering, and research educational institution. With 30,000 students (and growing) enrolled each year, software support and development needs are expanding. The Office of the CIO is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join the Enterprise Integrations team in Information Technology Services. This team leads enterprise-level API, integration, and application extension efforts for USU, including select software projects that augment the student and staff experience.

We will be hiring this position at a Level I, II, III, SR, or Lead dependent on the successful applicant's education and experience (see position classifications below).


Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility will be to design, develop, implement and support integrations and software solutions/extensions for USU's Enterprise Systems.
  • May also provide the opportunity to occasionally oversee, train, and lead student and peer engineers on projects.
  • Expected to automate your build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Expected to work closely with other IT professionals in accomplishing project objectives.
  • Assist with various development projects as assigned and may be project lead for many solutions which require systems integration.
  • Assist and support the USU IT Service Desk with incidents escalated to your team.
  • Due to the collaborative nature of this position and the coordination required, regular telework will not be considered at this time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Current Initiatives:
  • Migration of Aggietime from a java-based monolithic application to a javascript api-driven application.
  • Migration of the USU API from Grails to FastAPI (python).
  • Migration of MyID and remaining java-based applications to javascript and python.
  • Support of cloud migration strategies, consolidating identity management efforts, and securely moving data across systems.



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • The position will be hired at a Programmer/Analyst Level I, II, III, SR, or Lead dependent on the successful applicant's education and experience based upon the following:
    • I: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • II: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related field plus two years of related work experience is required; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • III: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related field plus four years of related work experience is required; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • SR: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related field plus six years of related work experience is required; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Lead: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related field plus eight years of related work experience is required; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • You must have a basic understanding of all the following concepts and technologies:
    • Overall Web Software Architecture
    • Relational and Non-relational Database Models
    • GIT Version Control Systems
    • Data Security
  • You must possess the following skills and abilities:
    • Be willing and able to effectively read, comprehend, and utilize technical documentation.
    • Have the ability to tackle steep learning curves as required.
    • Be able to work in a highly autonomous environment with limited supervision.
    • Be a team player and willing to work in an open office environment.
    • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Oracle SQL and PL/SQL or another RDBMS
  • Groovy/Grails
  • Hibernate ORM
  • ServiceNow
  • Ellucian Recruit CRM
  • Professional experience with Ellucian Banner (our higher-ed HR/finance/student ERP system).
  • Working knowledge of the higher education environment and culture.
