Insurance Eligibility & Benefits Specialist Job at EPIC Health System
Position Summary:
Candidate must be extremely detailed, excellent communicator, and thrives in a fast past setting on learning new specialties in the medical field. Primarily responsible for patient insurance/benefit verification, explain insurance/benefit coverage to patients, explain balances to patients, facilitate patient payment plans and processing patient payments.

- Insurance Billing/Claims experience commercial, Medicaid/Medicare and Private
- Insurance/benefit verification
- Experience explaining benefits coverage to patients
- Input demographic data with minimal to no transposition errors
- Respond to queries from all external and internal parties
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Communicating with coding team and medical offices
- Patient Payment Agreements/Patient Hardship apps/Patient Scheduling
- Special Projects when necessary
- Track and resolve discrepancies, based on partial payment and contracts
- Any other Duties requested by the supervisor
Education/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of Medicare, managed care and commercial insurances.
- Two (2) years of experience related to healthcare insurance eligibility, insurance verification or insurance billing in a primary internal medicine setting preferred
- Knowledge of various insurance coverage, COB rules of priority and processing procedures.
- Insurance payor systems experience required.
- Allscripts training/experience preferred.
- ICD-10 medical terminology experience preferred.
- Ability to adjust to new technologies as introduced.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
