Position Summary
The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting activities associated with the Oligonucleotide manufacturing equipment. This includes creating documentation for maintenance activities as well as performing the maintenance activities. Responsible for troubleshooting equipment and returning them to production in a timely manner. Responsibilities will also include recommending and implementing improvements to existing systems. This position will report on the status and key metrics of the equipment and software. Travel between our Novato and Petaluma sites, as needed.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain daily operations of the Oligonucleotide Manufacturing equipment that include but are not limited to:
- DNA Synthesizers, HPLCs, UPLCs, and Purifiers
- Manage tickets through Cherwell Management System and FileMaker Pro.
- Contact area leads to schedule and perform upcoming backup and upgrades.
- Execute scheduled backup maintenance for a variety of instruments and their respective software.
- Update activities to prioritize and coordinate a timeframe that does not impact the production schedule.
- Interact with vendors to receive proper documentation, support, software, and quotes for instruments.
- Work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with our domain policies as well as maintain the workability of the device per manufacturer specifications.
- Assist in modifying applicable documents as needed.
Qualfiications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-year related computer science experience.
- 1-year experience with troubleshooting mechanical equipment
- Interest in scientific equipment/instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree or 2-year college degree in a computer science discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Active Directory, Cherwell Management System, FileMaker Pro.
- Experience with instrument software including Unicorn, Empower, EvoWare, and Waters applications.
- Experience with laboratory instruments including plate stackers, plate scanners, speed vacs, mass spectrometers, and liquid handlers from vendors such as Tecan, Agilent, GE, ThermoFisher, and LGC as well as custom-built in-house instruments.
- Familiarity with Chemistry and basic fluid delivery process.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as with others, and possess a high attention to detail.
