Inside Sales Associate Job at DEACON INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY COMPANY
SUMMARY
Responsible to act in accordance with the policies set forth by Deacon Industrial as well as in the current procedures manual. Responsible for directing, coordinating and performing all activities as they relate to sales, including but not limited to telemarketing sales activities with assigned outside sales accounts and individual assigned accounts. Processes customer orders including the purchasing of items and services when required. Coordinates all activities so that work can be processed in a timely manner. Services the customer and provides quotes and inquires. Responsible for maintaining updated records on all house accounts. The ultimate ownership and responsibility of the order lies with the Inside Sales Associate that initiated that order. This function is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the departmental sales group to generate sales through servicing customers via e-mail, telephone, mail, fax, or EDI orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to, the following:
On a day-to-day basis:
· Prepares work orders received via e-mail, telephone, mail, fax, or EDI. Orders should be processed accurately and as quickly as possible.
· Coordinates the purchasing of items necessary to expedite the work orders when required. Non-routine items should be coordinated through purchasing.
· Sets up material work orders for special handled materials including vendor contact to obtain necessary commitments and information.
· Contacts individual assigned accounts with the main goal being to increase sales by providing exceptional account servicing.
· Obtains the required information, and data, to process a return authorization on a timely basis.
· Prepares quotations in a timely, competitive manner while supplying the customer all the required information in a complete and professional format.
Other necessary tasks:
· Coordinates customer returns with shipping/warehouse and accounting assisting with information to facilitate processing the returns trough the returns coordinator.
· Ensures that daily customer problems are being serviced by the sales person assigned to that account.
· Interfaces regularly with the Director of Sales Operations and stays up to date on the status of material availability for customer orders and inventory.
· Provides assistance to other Inside Sales Associates as necessary.
· Contributes to the sales department efforts by assuming the responsibility of handling and processing the flow of information through the office.
· Identify and present potential sales opportunities outside our current database to the Director of Sales Operations.
· Participates in emergency service schedule, as directed by the Director of Sales Operations.
· Coordinates special delivery requests with shipping department to facilitate customer needs.
· Participates in further education and training of new products and technology as directed by the Director of Sales Operations.
· Assists in training sales personnel, as requested, using training sources to the degree necessary.
· Maintains customer relationships by providing prompt services for all orders, inquiries, and other related areas including complaints, returns and coordinating such matters with other associates as necessary.
· Reports to management any company activities, which could be detrimental in achieving sales objectives and/or forecasts.
· Reviews with the Director of Sales Operations all inquiries of a competitive or product sensitive nature.
· Monitors daily quotations and follows up in an expedient manner to gain increased sales and/or competitive information.
· Attends vendor in house seminars covering new products and increasing overall knowledge of existing products.
· Maintains open order reports on a weekly basis.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of inside/outside sales experience. Mechanical trade oriented background is definitely a plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, invoices, work instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to interpret and respond to routine correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to create and use spreadsheets, as well as have experience with word processing.
