Overview of position:
The Industrial Designer (ID) will combine art, business, and engineering knowledge to develop new industrial safety equipment. ID will be responsible for the creative act of determining and defining a product's form and features, which takes place in advance of the manufacture or production of the product. The ID will contribute in the full product development lifecycle, from ideation to product launch. This position will work closely with operations, purchasing, planning, maintenance, quality, engineering, marketing, sales along with other business areas.
Responsibilities:
- Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product to make it more functional, manufacturable, and appealing to customers.
- Use blueprints, detailed drawings, or computer-aided designs to demonstrate product potential.
- Create prototypes using various fabrication methods (3D printing, machined parts, etc.).
- Research design trends, product limitations and enhancements.
- Work with engineering, marketing, production, and sales departments to establish and evaluate new product concepts.
- Present designs to stakeholders for approval.
- Test designs in focus groups or surveys.
- Perform research on appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
- Bring projects from concept through development to market.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or similar.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience as an industrial designer; experience in structural design is preferred.
- In-depth technical knowledge of prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Must have strong 3D modeling skills (i.e., SolidWorks, Rhino, Keyshot, etc.)
- Outstanding visual and oral communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities.
- Possess strong conceptualization skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Experienced with all phases of the design process, including trend research, design strategy, concept development, and manufacturing execution

Pay: $40,420.91 - $114,220.03 per year
