The primary responsibility of this position is to melt and sample materials in a safe manner according to customer and company specifications.
Your Role & Responsibilites:
- Identify and prepare appropriate equipment to conduct melting including the furnace, crucible, and mold
- Prepare the materials for melting including adding copper to reduce magnetic properties (with detailed logs)
- Take pin samples of materials
- Allow customer or vendor to witness melting process as required
- Polish materials using a sandblaster or grinder as needed
- Organize the materials into drums to be closed, sealed and weighed prior to shipment according to customer and company specifications
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of working area
- Conduct minor equipment maintenance as needed
What is required for this role:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 years' related experience
- Ability to add, subtrack, multiply and convert calculations to percentage and metric system
- Ability to understand concepts involving statistics, probabilities and formula manipulation and perform basic calculations on volume, mass, atomic percentages, weight percentages, density, molecular weight of alloys and compunds and charge weights.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
