Schedule, coordinate and supervise craft employee activities. May involve supervising one or more trade groups (Electricians and Instrument Technicians.)
Essential Functions
- Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily actions.
- Utilize and improve Management System for effective and efficient fulfillment of requirements from customers, regulators and values, policies, objectives, and targets.
- Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontract, craft, and staff personnel.
- Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project. When obstacles arise, employ sound decision-making/problem solving skills to resolve the issue.
- Manage all phases of the project, including safety, quality, cost, and productivity, using a proactive management style.
- Assist the Planner with development of the project construction plan. Recommend plan, schedule, or job sequencing revisions where appropriate.
- Review additional work, which is outside the original project scope of work, with the Planner for scheduling and cost tracking.
- Develop complete tool/equipment inventory for execution of planned work plus additional inventory for anticipated scope growth.
- Plan, organize and staff key field positions through the Site Manager.
- Ensure that all area personnel are qualified and properly trained in applicable work and safety procedures.
- Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
- Conduct daily project coordination meetings with the General Foreman prior to the start of the shift to ensure adherence to the project plan. Through these meetings communicate to the General Foreman those elements of the project that need to be worked daily and those that will be worked on soon, which might require preplanning.
- Review manpower and equipment/inventory levels daily; adjust levels as needed to satisfy project requirements.
- Maintain a significant visual presence in the construction area. Conduct frequent walk-downs and inspections of the construction project to assist staff members with directing and evaluating work in progress or completed work. The ability to enter confined spaces, climb and wear appropriate personnel protection will be required.
- Develop entry pre-plans and review them with Construction and Safety Departments for "Buyin".
- Conduct regular safety audits to monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements and critique craft housekeeping practices; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
- Participate in daily or weekly staff meetings or customer project coordinationmeetings, when required.
- Review, complete and submit daily timesheets to the Timekeepers Office. Authorize any overtime work exceeding the project plan requirements.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
- Read and interrupt I/E drawings
- a. P&ID
- b. Schematics
- c. Loop Drawings
- Shows knowledge and ability to use I/E equipment for different applications
- a. Loop communicator
- b. Insulation resistance
- c. Other basic electrical and instrumentation testing equipment
- Knowledge of Industrial I/E installations (cable tray, conduit, wire, supports and communication)
- a. Work package preparation and planning
- b. Work sequencing
- c. Commissioning
- d. Trouble shooting
Experience:
- 1. 5 or more years in a similar capacity servicing heavy Industrial Instrumentation and Electrical work in Maintenance, Turnaround and Construction Projects.
- 2. 10 or more years industrial maintenance experience in troubleshooting, including protective relaying, servicing, and repairing motor controllers, starters and electrical control systems and possess experience on high and medium voltage circuits.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
1. Valid state issued driver’s license.
2. NFP70
3. 20 Hour High Hazard Facility Training
4. TWIC Card
