The DOJ, Division of Management Services (DMS), Bureau of Human Resources (BHR) is currently recruiting to fill a Human Resources Assistant position. This position is a 0.55 FTE (22 hours per week) and is benefits eligible. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week). Position Summary

Under the limited supervision of the Human Resources Deputy Director and in collaboration with the human resources staff, this position provides paraprofessional confidential human resources support to the Department of Justice. Primary emphasis is on managing the daily workflow of the bureau as it relates to the recruitment and selection process. Duties and responsibilities include scheduling candidate interviews, preparation of selection documentation, functioning as the scheduling software administrator, providing assistance to professional human resources staff and payroll and benefits specialists. This position requires exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisors, coworkers, and all customers. This role requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion. This position requires independent judgement in the performance of the scope of duties assigned.

Salary Information

The Human Resources Assistant position is in pay schedule 81 and pay range 05. The starting pay will be between $21 - $24/hr. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details

This position is headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 West Main Street in the heart of downtown Madison. This position will be eligible to work remotely the majority of the time as part of a hybrid schedule following an initial training period. Reporting to the headquarters in Madison occasionally, including reporting on multiple consecutive workdays if needed may be required. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement.

High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.

The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

A background check, including fingerprints, will be completed on applicants prior to selection.
