Summary:
Assist in all functions generally associated within an HR department to include hiring, discipline, safety, compensation, benefits, recordkeeping, and labor law compliance.

Essential duties and responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.

Maintains personnel records such as employee data, compensation, benefits, medical information, and performance reports/evaluations on the computer and paper files.

Assists in the administration of safety policies and procedures to include monthly safety checks, quarterly safety trainings, coordination and tracking of PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes and overall department recordkeeping.

Support the coordination of biometric screening, flu and vaccine shots, hearing tests, and annual code of conduct questionnaires.

Prepares and monitors the process of internal job bids.

Orders and maintains department supplies.

Assists in the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of new hires.

Ensure labor law posters are within compliance and updated appropriately.

Prepares pre-employment hiring packets, drug screens, physicals, background clearances, and reference checks.

Assists in labor relations to included union matters such as investigations, discipline, grievances, and arbitrations.

Maintains accurate and thorough records within all HR related Information Systems.

Assists in the administration of FMLA and ADA policies and procedures.

Schedules employees for medical treatment related to worker compensation injuries, pre-employment physicals and drug and alcohol testing as per company policy.

Assists in the creation, modification, and execution of up-to-date job descriptions.

Ensures electronic resources are current and accurate such as job postings, policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and safety data sheets.

Process employment verifications ensuring the proper disclaimers are provided.

Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college; one to two-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, manufacturing software and word processing software.
