The HR Director's position is a full-time position working out of our Alexandria, VA office. The HR Director would support 75 employees located in the following states: Virginia, Arizona, Kansas, New Mexico, and South Dakota.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an HR Director to join our team and monitor all Human Resources and Payroll functions.
The HR Director's responsibilities include planning, directing, managing the organization's human resources activities, and maintaining a healthy workplace environment. Responsibilities include: staffing, training and development, compensation, payroll, employee policies and procedures, employee performance reviews, employee assistance, compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and providing guidance to managers on HR related issues. To be successful in this role, you should have a general knowledge of all aspects of HR and Payroll. Ultimately, you will foster a healthy workplace by ensuring our HR procedures always run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Human Resources:
- Developing job postings, job descriptions, and position requirements
- Ensure all screening, hiring and selection are done in accordance with employment laws and regulations
- Manage the new employee onboarding experience
- Respond to employment verifications and surveys as needed
- Ensure all required reporting, forms, and posters are up to date and maintained accurately
- Participates in developing HR department goals, objectives, and systems
- Worker Compensation monitoring yearly reporting, incident follow-up, and risk management training
- Develop and implement HR policies throughout the organization
- Collaborate with employees, upper management and outside vendors
- Overseeing evaluations of substandard performance remediation and discipline
Payroll:
- Responsible for timely, accurately and compliantly processing the bi-weekly payroll
- Audit and process payroll documents
- Process employee data for new hires, changes, additional earnings, etc
- Processes employee Time & Attendance data to payroll and reconcile variances
- Approve and release time in the time system
- Prepares and maintains employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
- Maintains vacation and sick time records
- Develops in depth understanding of payroll software and HRIS
- Create reports on demand
- Assists employees in registering for or resetting access to the online portal
- Maintains vendor contact for payroll and recruiting and other HR related activities
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business specifically Human Resource Management.
- Professionally certified in Human Resource Management (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc) a plus
- Three to five years of experience in human resources
Knowledge:
- Proven work experience as an HR Generalist with payroll knowledge
- Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), like iSolved,
- ADP or Paychex
- Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems
- Familiarity with full cycle recruiting
- Familiar with a wide variety of sourcing avenues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Team management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of interview techniques and applicant screening methods
- Deep understanding of employment laws and regulations
