The Human Rights Education Institute is a trailblazing nonprofit in Coeur d'Alene with a history of vital advocacy and education in a historically complex community. We believe that community leaders are most effective when they are home-grown, and see the strengths that arise from diverse backgrounds as well as the obstacles that can hinder these strengths from being exercised. As the Higher Education Opportunities VISTA, you will work to develop a volunteer program that supports lower-income prospective students, particularly young women ages 16-25, who are seeking to develop themselves as young professionals through higher education opportunities.
Member Duties : In this position, you will be building on an existing program that lay dormant due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will conduct research to determine current higher education opportunities and supports available and identify gaps in programming. You will also develop a comprehensive project plan to describe the future of the program, including a targeted career fair. Lastly, you will recruit and develop our network of volunteer mentors.
