Job Summary:
Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. engineers and manufactures a broad portfolio of machined aerospace components. We partner with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who provide parts to commercial and military aircraft worldwide. Based in Enfield, CT, Phoenix employs approximately 85 personnel. The Company’s key services include machine processing, CAD, CAM, CMM and development TPO to manufacture highly engineered mechanical actuation and safety components for fixed and rotary wing commercial and military aircraft. The Human Resources Manager leads and directs all aspects of the site’s HR activities, including employee relations, team engagement, performance management, benefits, compensation, payroll, labor/regulatory compliance, recruiting, policy interpretation, and implementation of HR programs. This position will report to the CEO and work closely with the senior management team. Our ideal candidate will be available for a full-time, in-person position to support our 100% in-person team, but some schedule accommodations can be considered.
Human Resources Manager Essential Job Functions:
- Plans, directs and coordinates human resource functions to promote effective employee relations.
- Creates and directs all employee relations processes, procedures and policies to support the mission of the organization.
- Updates employee handbook to maintain currency.
- Oversees payroll process including review of weekly submission. Serves as primary contact with payroll vendor
- Manages and maintains all Human Resource records, files and confidential information.
- Engages benefits broker as required to ensure lowest cost of employee benefits
- Manages benefits program including employee enrollments, record keeping and COBRA.
- Provides support and responds to questions from employees on various topics.
- Creates training presentations and trains employees on programs such as sexual harassment, supervisory training, team building, production processes, coaching employees and disciplinary procedures and processes.
- Manages the talent pipeline function including recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and orientation.
- Coordinates the Performance Review process
- Coordinates the Workers’ Compensation function; work with the Workers’ Compensation Carrier as needed.
- Manages FMLA process, explaining employees’ rights and responsibilities including tracking paperwork, leave status and follow-up.
- Keeps up to date on HR compliance issues.
- Tracks all OSHA requirements and creates 300 and 300A reports on an annual basis.
- Leads the Safety Committee managing company’s safety program.
- Lead’s Phoenix’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion HR Function
- Fosters the development of Phoenix’s core values that align with business objectives while supporting the company through respect, integrity, perseverance and teamwork.
Human Resources Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field; or requisite experience in Human Resources.
- PHR/SPHR/SHRM-SCP certifications preferred.
- Highest level of ethics and values; highly polished character
- Five plus years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in an manufacturing organization
- Thorough understanding of COBRA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation and related state and federal regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, presentation skills and high attention to detail.
- Experience designing and conducting HR, supervisory and employee training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and CT State Laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources. Strong knowledge of employee relation’s issues and solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under general supervision and make good decisions that fit the situation.
- Excellent Microsoft skills in Excel, Work, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Demonstrated flexibility, agility, adaptability and ability to multi-task.
