A Community Living Supports staff works with and supports individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities in their own homes. As a CLS staff, you have many roles:
- A PARTNER - assisting individuals in leading independent lives and participating in and contributing to the community.
- A TEACHER finding creative and fun ways to help individuals learn meaningful skills and providing them with information to make the best choices for themselves.
- An ADVOCATE - supporting individuals in exercising their rights and responsibilities.
- A SUPPORTER - seeking to understand the likes, dislikes, hopes, and dreams of individuals they support and working with them as they make progress toward their life goals. All of the roles that you play have a common focus of supporting individuals to live the kind of lives they choose.
Qualified staff MUST have a driver’s license, reliable transportation, be at least 18 and pass a criminal record check. This is a fantastic, resume building opportunity for people going into education, health care or social services. At least one weekend shift is required.
$12.00 per hour plus a $2.35 per hour bonus as long as the State of Michigan offers the incentive. Please note, training is at the $12.00 rate because the government incentive is only for billable hours.
