Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applications to fill a tenure-track position (Assistant or Associate rank, depending on qualifications and experience) to join the faculty of our Healthcare Administration and Management (HCAM) program beginning August 2023. This opportunity is due to growth in program enrollment and program expansion. The successful candidate will have expertise in multiple areas, such as:

  • The US Healthcare System
  • Healthcare Finance
  • Healthcare Practice Management
  • Value-based Reimbursement
  • Healthcare Economics
  • Managed Care and Insurance
  • Legal Environment of Health Care
  • Healthcare Quality Processes and Analysis
  • Healthcare Services Research and Theory

This position is at the Slippery Rock University campus and not a distance/remote position. Duties include:

  • Excellent classroom instruction, both face-to-face and online
  • Research and scholarly growth commensurate with the position within the accredited academic unit
  • Excellent academic advising of undergraduate students
  • Enthusiastically serve on department, college, and university committees
  • Serve as an ambassador of the HCAM program and University to foster excellent stakeholder relations and continued program growth
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Degree Requirements Include:

  • Terminal degree (PhD or Doctorate) in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Research, Health Services Management, or other related degree, and the ability to effectively teach healthcare administration undergraduate or graduate courses in more than one of the following areas: healthcare finance, managed care and insurance, healthcare law/regulatory environment, healthcare value-based reimbursement, healthcare theory and research, and/or healthcare practice management;

OR

  • Terminal degree (such as PhD or Doctorate) AND at least 5 years of health care administration related industry experience, and the ability to effectively teach healthcare administration undergraduate or graduate courses in more than one of the following areas: healthcare finance, managed care and insurance, healthcare law/regulatory environment, healthcare value-based reimbursement, healthcare theory and research, and/or healthcare practice management;

OR

  • Terminal degree (such as PhD or Doctorate) AND at least 5 years full-time equivalent teaching health care administration undergraduate or graduate courses in more than one of the following areas: healthcare finance, managed care and insurance, healthcare law/regulatory environment, healthcare value-based reimbursement, healthcare theory and research, and/or healthcare practice management
  • ABD applicants will be considered if dissertation will be completed by August 18, 2023 AND meets one of the above qualification parameters listed above by August 18, 2023.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively teach multiple content areas within the HCAM program including 2 or more of the following: healthcare finance, managed care and insurance, healthcare law/regulatory environment, healthcare value-based reimbursement, healthcare theory and research, and/or healthcare economics
  • Ability to effectively teach face-to-face courses on campus and online courses
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administration, staff, and other faculty
  • Submission of a well written, organized and complete application package
  • Successful performance in an interview, research presentation, and teaching demonstration
  • Commitment to the education of diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare related industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a highly competent educator at the undergraduate level.
  • A record of effective teaching experience online and face-to-face is preferred.
  • A highly engaged team-oriented person is ideal for this position.
