Job Title: Health Services Director

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Ensures the quality care of all residents in the Assisted Living facility. Maintains the clinical operations of Assisted Living and Memory Care, directs, coordinates, and supervises all clinical services of the Assisted Living residents. Complies with federal, state, and local standards for facility operation. Monitors policies and procedures, public relations, and employee morale. Incorporates the Generation’s mission, vision, and values in the daily work and interactions with others.

DUTIES

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in establishing the policies pertaining to total resident care, personnel, medical staff.
  • Explain policies and procedures to staff, residents, visitor, etc.
  • Review policies and procedures periodically and make changes as necessary.
  • Participate in staff training.
  • Receive suggestions from department heads and other individuals on matters pertaining to department operations and external relationships. Respond to suggestions promptly and in writing if necessary.
  • Promote a positive relationship with outside providers and other agencies in the community. Participate in marketing of the facility on a routine basis.
  • Maintain working relationship with community hospitals and other health facilities in the community and coordinate with their services through work and transfer agreements.
  • Participate in community activities. Represent the facility at all top-level meetings and institutes. Represent the facility in dealing with outside agencies, including governmental and third-party payers or send qualified representatives.
  • Keep current on all laws pertaining to the facility operation.
  • Participate in all QA studies. Accumulate data and provide written evaluation of QA results.
  • Oversee warnings, terminations, hiring. Approve annual market plan, etc.
  • Elicit family and resident input.
  • Be on call as scheduled
  • Develop, oversee, and implement orientation and training programs for staff.
  • Assist personnel and residents in establishing a home-like atmosphere.
  • Incorporate choice, dignity, independence, individuality, and privacy into job performance on a daily basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • RN is Required. Must have a two-year degree in a related field and experience in health care and/or assisted living.
  • Needs to have worked with people in a supervisory position in a similar campus setting for a minimum of three years.
  • Knowledge of personnel administration and federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and follow written and oral instructions in the English language.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Responsibilities

To facilitate and promote the policies and procedures needed to provide care and services to the residents. To keep all personnel, resident, and related matters confidential. Perform all the duties as directed by the Executive Director.

Training and experience

Experience in assisted living preferred but not required. Knowledge of public relations and economic conditions within the community desirable.

Supervision

Needs to be self-directed and possess the ability to make decisions. Is accountable for department performance. Works closely with the Executive Director and other department heads.
