Hatchery Supervisor Job at Aviagen
We are seeking an individual to fill the vacant position of Hatchery Supervisor at the Elkmont, AL Hatchery. The selected individual will be responsible for overseeing the hatch day activities and will report to the Assistant Hatchery Manager.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school: or 12 month’s related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of the two is preferred.
Experience in managing, training and motivating employees.
Effective leadership with the ability to delegate tasks to subordinates in a fair manner.
Possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to solve practical problems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs required.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not essential.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to pass a TSA background checkThe following duties will vary according to the needs of the department. Normal duties will include:
Direct and coordinate the hatch day activities such as sexing, vaccination, servicing, screening and palletizing.
Maintain/create and interpret hatchery records and assist in preparing schedules and reports.
Arrange for the purchase of supplies and equipment.
Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends.
Maintaining Safety, Bio-Security, ISO, TSA and Animal Welfare programs.
Train employees and maintain records for compliance with regulatory programs.
