The Groundskeeper shall be responsible to the Vice President for Operations and Special Projects. The duties and responsibilities of the groundskeeper, but not limited to, the following: 1) Plants shrubs, trees, and flowers; prunes trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds. 2) Removes trash and debris from stairs and walks; rakes leaves, and mows. 3) Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns; performs minor irrigation activities. 4) Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required. 5) Applies fertilizer; top dresses, tills, and re-seeds garden and grass areas. 6) Operates large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools, and vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities. 7) Operates pick-up trucks, dump trucks, tractors, trucks with trailers, and forklifts for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal. 8) Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required. 9) Shovels and removes snow and ice and places ice melt in designated areas such as sidewalks, pathways and entryways as required. 10) May assist with the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces and assist with installation and removal of outdoor signs and traffic/control barriers as required. 11) May serve on various campus committees as assigned. 12) Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Some grounds maintenance or landscaping experience preferred. May require possession a valid New Mexico or Texas driver’s license.
