Greenhouse Custodian Job at Dan Schantz Farm & Greenhouses Llc
The Greenhouse Custodian is responsible for maintaining appropriate sanitation levels in and around company facilities while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures. Working with our operations and facilities management team to keep our work areas and grounds clean and free of debris is an important role at our commercial greenhouse production facility located in Zionsville, PA.
Shift hours for this position are generally Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4 or 5 pm. Some Saturdays may be required during peak production and shipping months (March, April, May, June, September, October).
We are seeking a true team member who is flexible to work hours as needed and who will also pitch in with other production tasks as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
- Perform general, routine custodial duties;
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum
- Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies
- Maintain the trash room by disposing trash into dumpsters
- Properly break down and dispose of cardboard, which includes use of cardboard baler
- Keep floors in clean condition and free of debris
- Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility
- Operate floor cleaning equipment, material handling equipment, and other machinery
- Ensure materials are appropriately discarded or placed for reuse (such as plant trays, as applicable)
- Maintain and prevent insect and rodent infestation
- Mow lawn and maintain landscapes
- Remove snow as needed
Qualifications and Physical Demands:
- Previous warehouse experience a plus but not required
- Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment, cardboard baler, material handling equipment, and other machinery
- Must be comfortable handling cleaning chemicals
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
- Ability to work in greenhouse production environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dirt, dust, and other possible allergens
