Overview:
Pasco-Hernando State College is seeking a talented and creative Graphic Designer to join our dynamic, fast-paced marketing and communications team. At PHSC, we see graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs and inspires. We're looking for an innovative graphic designer who can take concepts and ideas and create visual representations, in both print and digital media. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of current design software, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva, and be skilled in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple departments and teams across the college, the graphic designer should be able to take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects and resonates with the audience. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of branding, marketing, and be able to find the right style and layout for every project.

Responsible for the implementation of printed and digital marketing and communications materials developed with the marketing and communications team. Coordinates the design and production for all PHSC creative materials. Manages and applies brand standards collegewide. Assists with the management of all visual materials, including photo and graphic libraries.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the conceptualization, planning and implementation of the design and production of complex College publications and other print-based marketing materials as well as online and social media-based promotional materials, in collaboration with the marketing and communications office team.
  • Oversees the creative implementation of publications and print projects, including developing project timelines, tracking project progress, and uploading completed materials in the Marketing and Communications Office project management system.
  • Collects and reviews cost estimates for print projects with vendors and provides recommendations for professional printing services.
  • Approves the use of the college logo and seal, sets design parameters and reviews and approves the implementation of the College logo, seal, word marks, mottos, and taglines in all Collegewide materials, including printed and digital publications, ads and promotions.
  • Designs wireframes and collaborates with the College web content manager and webmaster on graphic content for PHSC’s responsive website, PHSC mobile, affiliate sites and digital displays.
  • Collaborates with vendor representatives, freelance designers and photographers on design elements and creative projects.
  • Reviews all college marketing materials for PHSC brand and ADA compliance.
  • Works as a liaison and advisor with other departments to assist in the creative development of marketing materials. Reviews and approves material designs submitted by other departments including Athletics, Facilities and Student Life and Leadership.
  • Maintains mastery of current Mac and PC computer operating systems.
  • Remains well-versed in current design methodologies, techniques and programs.
  • Maintains up-to-date skills in graphic design and marketing best practices and trends.
  • Assists in the creative orchestration of photo and video shoots with professional photographers/videographers and serves as the official College photographer, when needed.
  • Assists with the collection and filing of photos, logos and images and arranges for delivery or access to these materials for promotional purposes.
  • Supervises the distribution of marketing materials.
  • Produces in-house publications, including fliers, brochures, booklets, posters and other materials on the Marketing and Communications Office copier/printer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Graphic Design or related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of experience in a design environment with increasing responsibility
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Excellent design sensibility, computer graphic expertise, word processing/proofreading and basic photography skills · Knowledge of printing production processes · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks Anticipated Start Date: Open until filled Preferred Qualifications: · Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from a regionally accredited institution · Five (5) years or more of experience in design environment
