Graphic Design Apprentice

Summary

This is not a remote position. You will need to work in our office in Stuart, FL.

Cotton & Company is an advertising and marketing agency specializing in luxury residential real estate. As a Graphic Design apprentice, you will be working directly with our Creative Director and experienced team of Senior Art Directors in the creative process. You must have an eye for detail and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. You must work well in a team environment and leave your ego at the door. Bring your A game to every project, recognizing the potential for advancement as you refine your skillset.

Job Description:

3 years of experience.

• Designs eBlasts, E-Newsletters, interactive/web ads, brochures, fliers, billboards, and advertising campaigns.
• Support design/production personnel to assist with file preparation for final printing or fabrication.
• Research, select and edit stock or client-provided photography as needed.
• Understand and implement required file specifications (colors, fonts, papers, sizes, etc.) .
• Retouch photography or adjust image quality as required.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and organize daily tasks.
• Solid working knowledge of Adobe software suite and strive to continually evolve as required.

Job Qualifications:

• Formal graphics training/education.
• Exceptional computer skills, Mac platform and Adobe Suite required.
• Thorough knowledge of the following software applications: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Light Room and any widely utilized word processing application. Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, motion graphics and video editing software a plus.
• Understanding of Social Media graphics development including video, gif and slide show campaigns.
• A can-do attitude with a desire for self-improvement and continued education.

Job Skills Required:

• Communicate thorough knowledge of assigned product(s).
• Effectively collect electronic materials for output.
• Effectively handle multiple assignments at one time.
• Manage challenging situations both internally and with the client.

Demonstrate Complete Understanding of:

• Color theory and color relationships.
• Typographic terms that identify type forms and the specifications required to refer to typographic settings (i.e., points, leading, picas, kerning, tracking, cap-height, x-height, etc.).
• Perspective and space relationships
• Page composition and grid structures.
• Print production process, knowledge of production techniques, and correct disking procedures.
• Photography and the photographic process.

Demonstrated Ability to:

• Communicate thorough knowledge of assigned product(s).
• Provide effective direction at photo shoots.
• Effectively check and approve work on press.
• Effectively collect electronic materials for output.
• Effectively handle multiple assignments at one time.
• Manage challenging situations both internally and with the client.
• Command respect of freelancers and designers and be able to effectively oversee their work.
