Title: Grant Writer

Responsibilities:

The Grant Writer is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing plans and goals for the department. Work closely with the Executive Director in fund-raising efforts that includes request proposals to private foundations, local, state, and federal governments, corporations, civic groups, individual contributors, direct mail appeals, and community partners. The Grant Writer will have a proven background in grant writing.

Reporting Relationships:

The Grant Writer will report directly to the Executive Director according to the chain of command outlined in the organizational chart and according to the written policies in the employee handbook.

Duties:

  • Maintain donor retention practices through completion of thank you cards/letters.
  • Grant Writing
  • Participate in community events and public relations including fairs, information booths, and public speaking opportunities.
  • Research grant opportunities that support The FSCO mission.
  • Draft grant proposals.
  • Submit proposals.
  • Follow through with thank you’s, receipts and work closely with bookkeeping to track income and expenditures.
  • Maintain records, documentation and reports related to grant opportunities.
  • Gather information and data to support grant submittal.
  • Respond and follow-up with information, proper social media exposure and grant requirements.
  • Participate in on-site reviews by funding agencies.
  • Prepare for all audits of programs and classes, assuring that all documentation, record keeping and compliance requirements are met.
  • Be familiar with expectations for current contracts and assist Executive Director with grants as needed.
  • Address needs of programs that are not being met, and help find solutions to meet those needs.
  • Provide data collection and compilation for contract reporting.
  • Collect all data pertinent to contracts and grants.
  • Accurately compile and store confidential data in accordance to agency policies.
  • Make data available to various departments and assist with reporting requirements.
  • Compile data at end of quarter and utilize information to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Perform additional duties as needed/requested.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Grant Writing position
  • Marketing and social media promotion experience
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven organizational and leadership skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a related field
  • BS/BA in Social Work, Family Studies or related field is preferred
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibility Breakdown. This is an estimate and subject to change.

  • 70% Grant Writing
  • 10% Participate in on-site reviews by funding agencies
  • 10% Provide data collection and compilation for contract reporting.
  • 10% Perform additional duties as needed/requested.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
