Grain Operations - McLaughlin, SD Job at PeopleLift
This position will consist of assisting with the grain elevator operations and ensuring all trucks are properly loaded and unloaded. This person will conduct general maintenance on equipment, overall housekeeping and help in loading unit trains on arrival.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Perform critical operations to keep the facility running: loading/Unloading trucks and railcars, other grain handling including, filling/reclaiming of ground piles, transferring, blending etc.
- Operates safely within Agtegra policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Provides a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable interactions with our patrons.
- Maintains the housekeeping of the facility including: elevators, groups, buildings, etc.
- Monitors equipment to ensure it’s in good working order, participates in the overall maintenance of the facility and equipment- notify management of any necessary repairs or possible equipment concerns.
- Be an engaged member of a team and be a self-starter.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA, EPA and policies and procedures as they apply.
- Knowledge of Agtegra’s operating requirements, policies, procedures, and practices; and local, state, and federal regulations related to department programs and operations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
- Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
- Knowledge of current office practices and procedures and knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment and software.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in English in both written and verbal form.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in performing duties and resolving problems.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with individuals within and outside the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft office (M.S. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the internet.
- Ability to always maintain professionalism.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 0-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Driver’s License
