Our Layup associates pull components from the upper track, distribute bundles of components to other Layup associates, lay up components on the lower track, fix defects in the finished layup, and place unglued components on glue roller infeed conveyor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembles own components and finished layup are within quality specifications; create properly balanced wood flow for teammates online; cut and place unacceptable components in waste wood barrels; cleans workspace as required; places unglued components back on glue roller infeed conveyor.

Requirements:Under Minimum Job Requirements:
Education and experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Wabash requires reference/background, criminal and drug screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
Working Conditions/Environment
- Regularly required to lift, maneuver, and carry up to 35 (thirty-five) pounds from position to position without assistance. Frequently required to lift, maneuver, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds from position to position without assistance. Occasionally required to lift, maneuver, and carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds from position to position with assistance. This requires the substantial use of the upper extremities, back, and leg muscles while moving from one location to another.
- Wearing goggles, rubber boots, rubber gloves, and other PPE as required.
- Push/Pull: exertion of force on or against an object of various weights and sizes to move it from one location to another with a full range of body mechanics/movements. Pushing will use upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward. Pulling will use upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds by ear. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause a worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
- Talking: expressing or exchanging information by means of the spoken word, or conveying detailed spoken instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a terminal; reading; visual inspection involving defects, small parts, and or operation of machines (including inspection of the machine; uses measurement devices, and or assembly of fabrication of parts at different distances. Works around moving objects
- An extensive or fast-paced high volume of work that works under direct supervision with frequent interruptions.
- The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Moreover, exposure to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, and dust.
- Climb/Step: ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress, using both hands and feet
- Physical abilities, including mobility, agility, strength, dexterity, balance, coordination, and /or endurance.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending the leg and spine.
- Bend: flexion of the upper trunk forward while standing and knees extended, or knees flexed when sitting, or elbows flexed when using
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction (example of over/above the shoulder). 50% of the time.
- Bi-lateral hand control – 90- 100% and dual simultaneous grasping.
- The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
- Attendance of occasional meetings both small and large and works closely with other employees.
