Global Payroll Manager Job at Protective Industrial Products
Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP), a leading global provider of personal protective equipment to industrial and retail customers has an immediate opening in the Payroll department in their Albany New York headquarters. Candidate must have the ability to work effectively in a leadership position with strong time management and organization skills. Must be well versed with global payroll practices and procedures. Experience with payroll compliance with country, federal, state, and local legal requirements. Proven ability in managing a global payroll team and establishing meaningful department goals and metrics. Ability to exercise excellent judgment and confidentially with personal and private employee information and resolve payroll issues with a sense of urgency and professionalism. Must have a strong internal customer focus with a sense of ownership over the global payroll cycle.
Global Payroll Manager Responsibilities
Manage global payroll team and oversight of payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll to employees.- Establish and monitor key global payroll KPI’s.
- Develop and implement standard global payroll policies and procedures where appropriate.
- Ensure all required country reporting and payroll tax filings are done timely and accurately.
- Ensure payroll operations are performed in compliance with company policies, country, state/province, and local laws.
- Reviewing and approving all payroll steps and funding in partnership with internal teams in Finance.
- Oversee all aspects of payroll processing, including weekly payroll, manual checks, and terminations, as well as processing of all employee payroll changes (status changes, new hires, deductions, etc.).
- Responsible for the global team's accurate and timely payrolls for all countries in compliance with local tax and labor regulations, including supplemental or non-recurring pay runs, and ensuring timely tax deposits.
- Manage monthly payroll close and prepare for management reporting.
- Maintain global employee and HR data in current payroll/HRIS platform.
- Perform analytical reviews of payroll information to ensure accuracy, including but not limited to weekly payroll, usage of paid childcare leave, bereavement leave, jury duty, vacation, sick time, etc.
- Provide hands-on support for all payroll reconciliations in support of month-end close activities.
- Perform trend analyses on compensation data, employee headcount, pay, variable compensation, overtime and special programs to identify and provide early visibility to organizational needs and budget risks.
- Review all Quarterly and Annual Tax filings, including Forms W-2, addressing any exceptions and errors prior to finalization
- Prepare for and manage payroll related audits (workers compensation, retirement plans, etc.)
- Verify that all garnishments and levies are completed in accordance with the law.
- Stay abreast of payroll legislations impacting PIP Global and coordinate with appropriate internal and external parties to ensure compliance.
- Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of payroll requirements unique to non-US entities to support compliance and serve as a resource to other PIP Global departments.
- Vigorously safeguard all employee and payroll confidential information.
Payroll Systems
Participate in the evaluation and selection of a global payroll and/or HRIS system and lead the global implementation process for the selected global system.- Verify country, state and local tax information is set up correctly in payroll system and maintained.
- Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Payroll and Time-tracking System(s).
Policies, Procedures, and Internal Controls
Partner with HR to implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective workflows to improve the payroll cycle, including new hires, terminations, time tracking, time off, etc. driving toward implementation of best practices and business process improvements.- Support organization’s internal control compliance through adherence to key policies and procedures and timely completion of reporting.
Team and Project Management
Manage, motivate, and develop staff within the Payroll team. Partner with Finance to design and maintain an organizational structure appropriate for supporting PIP Global’s current and future business needs.
- Perform staff management and administrative duties including training. Manage staffing and budgetary requirements and set department performance standards.
- Perform special projects and analyses as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business management or a related field of study.- Certified Payroll Professional (“CPP”) Designation desirable
- 7+ years of experience overseeing Payroll functions in a global environment
- Exposure to international operations
- Experience participating in system evaluation and implementation
- Proven ability to develop and sustain a department that is poised to meet the changing needs of the company
