The Compensation Manager will the lead the Global Center of Excellence with the HR function and will be responsible for managing the company’s compensation programs including global initiatives. It will support internal functions in all aspects of compensation, providing direction, guidance and thought leadership. The role will continuously assess market trends and local regulatory requirements to design and implement compensation programs, processes and procedures aligned to company’s goals and competitive practices with an overall objective of maximizing employee productivity, performance, and engagement. The role ensures that compensation philosophy and practices in other parts of the globe are consistently aligned with business goals, best practices and local regulations. This role will report to Crawford’s Chief People & ESG Officer and oversee a team of analysts that provide compensation and organizational design implementation and support.
- Compensation
- Prepares and evaluates position descriptions, performs market pricings, assigns job bands and maintains the integrity of the compensation structure.
- Consistently reviews, analyzes, and provides direction to stakeholders regarding internal and external equity for existing and new positions.
- Designs, communicates, implements and leads compensation programs, including salary structure, incentive plan design, and merit/salary planning.
- Manages vendor relationships, surveys and company’s participation in salary and variable compensation surveys.
- Develops and maintains compensation related databases and systems (PayFactors) that support compensation programs through the organization.
- Designs and manages HR analytics initiatives: designs and builds compensation metrics, reports and tools to inform compensation program decisions and analyze business outcomes.
- Collaborates with Corporate and Division leaders on general compensation issues.
- Keeps apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
- Reviews and provides guidance on new hire offers.
- Participates in development of compensation policies and procedures.
- Proactively identifies ways to improve, automate and/or streamline compensation processes.
- Organizational Design
- Assures adherence to the global structural framework and manages the implementation of the framework in the units and geographies that are not following it.
- Recommends organizational structures, compensation practices, business and operating procedures, reporting relationships, and team interactions.
- Audits the business units as the potential changes to job descriptions are identified.
- Leads, and/or collaborates with the business or HR Business Partners on, a variety of projects, including program redesign, policy reviews, cross-functional project teams, and implementation of new programs/special projects.
- Designs and maintains the rules for the organizational structure creation.
- Uses HR analytics to forecast organizational human resources needs to support talent management, reward systems, budgeting, etc.
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or related field degree is required.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is an advantage.
- 5+ years relevant experience with the ability to manage and operate at both a strategic and hands-on level of conducting analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs.
- Experience with managing a team is preferred.
- Experience with change management, corporate-wide communications and adept at communication and influencing is preferred.
- Ability to lead large scale global implementation of a new framework and ‘sell’ ideas and concept.
- Excellent strategic thinking and business judgment.
- Capable of effectively managing complex projects with little to no guidance.
- Ability to collaborate and problem solve with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written communications, as well as ability to interact with all levels of organization.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with HR software.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks within critical deadlines.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
