The GIS Technician is a non-exempt position with paygrade 9. Paygrade 9 has a pay range of $14.74 to $18.72 per hour, depending on previous experience.

Job Summary: The selected candidate will, under limited supervision, perform a full range of mapping, geographic data analysis, and other GIS support for city government operations. Reports to the Operations Manager.
Trial Service Period: 90 days (employment remains at-will at all times)
Minimum Training and Experience: Position requires either a bachelor’s degree in Geographical Information Systems (or related field) and two years of responsible, relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid West Virginia driver's license. May be required to possess or obtain additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of tools including GIS specific tools. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Position involves walking, standing, sitting, use of hands, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, reclining, stooping/kneeling, talking/hearing, smelling and balancing. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to fifty pounds.
