The General Superintendent will be responsible for assisting the General Manager and Project Manager, across one or multiple construction-management projects across Austin, supervising field teams and assisting in technical operations. The position will oversee private, commercial and municipal infrastructure projects with an emphasis on underground utilities, ground and dirt work across central Austin.

Experience:

• 10 -15 years of experience on construction projects in a superintendent role.

• Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics and contract operations on tight urban sites, Water and Waste Water Treatment Plants.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, BlueBeam and Word.

• Must be construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction.

• Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.

• Strong technical and communication skills are critical.

• Must have OSHA 30 Hour or more.

• Must have an up to date CPR/AED certificate.

Responsibilities:

• Supervision of the actual physical construction of the project in strict accordance with the contract documents;

• Verification of safety compliance with all trades;

• Maintenance and planning of reports, work-arounds, shutdowns and tie-ins;

• Resolution of jurisdictional disputes; enforcement of safety and quality-control policies;

• Oversee direction and day-to-day coordination of superintendents, crews, subcontractors -- and their sub-contractors when required -- to ensure they turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule;

• Maintenance of satisfactory relationships with owners, subcontractors, inspectors, etc.;

• Ensure productive use of machines, labor and materials;

• The ability to work in a team environment with other Project Managers, Engineers and Superintendents.

• Provide leadership and to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships of the on-site staff and to promote a positive project morale

• Provide policy support (including the hiring and firing of various field employees)

• Review all assigned crews’ timecards and daily reports for weekly submission

• Create and maintain weekly job schedules

• Assist in all new hire orientations

• Complete employee evaluations and PIPs as needed

• Approve and track field PTO requests

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. This is a full-time position. This position frequently requires long hours, weekend work, night work, overtime and requests that the employees remain on-call all hours of the day each day of the week.
