Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, FJ Management (FJM) was founded in 1968 and is a private holding company comprised of several operating and investment subsidiaries. The operating subsidiaries include Maverik - a convenience store and gas station chain with over 385 locations; Big West Oil - a refinery business; FJ Healthcare – a healthcare services and senior living business; and FJ Investments - which includes an investment portfolio with a broad mandate to invest across all asset classes.

The FJM FP&A Sr. Analyst is responsible for supporting various corporate functions at the holding company level providing meaningful and accurate financial and business analytics in support of decision-making towards our long-term strategies and goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and report on financial and operational performance metrics and goals
  • Interpret financial data and trends
  • Extract appropriate data from various business and financial systems
  • Create financial models and lead due diligence to support direct investment and co-investment opportunities
  • Gather, prepare and update investment returns analysis across the enterprise to support capital allocation recommendations
  • Analyze data and provide insights/observations to the executive leadership team
  • Assist with the preparation of materials presented in various executive meetings
  • Assist in budget development
  • Develop creative reporting solutions and data visualizations for various levels of use
  • Engage with accounting department leadership to develop and improve processes and reporting capabilities
  • Guide future priorities and research agenda by monitoring financial, economic, and market data
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other groups and operating subsidiaries at the company to diligence new potential business opportunities
  • Assist in the improvement of processes and analytics
  • Perform ad-hoc business and financial analysis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Finance, Economics, Business Management, Accounting, Mathematics strongly preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, reporting and ad hoc composition
  • Strong demonstrable English language written and oral communication skills
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills
  • Demonstrable experience in developing data reporting and BI solutions
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools, such as Power BI
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and/or SQL and the entire Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s Degree preferred
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and lean environment
  • Proven ability to work successfully in an ambiguous environment
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Customer focus and professional demeanor
  • Familiarity with financial analytical tools such as Bloomberg, Nasdaq Solovis, Nasdaq eVestment, Pitchbook, Solver BI360, or similar programs a plus
