Food Service Worker Job at State of Iowa Talent Gateway
The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022 to form one agency, The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We are seeking a Food Service worker to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) in Glenwood, which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities.
This is a full-time opportunity with day time shifts available. (6:30am - 5:00pm; 8:30am - 5:00pm; Works every 3rd weekend 8:30am - 5:00pm) Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Job duties for this position include:
Dish room: Pre-rinse equipment before loading dish machine, utilizing garbage disposals and place equipment in dish machine according to established procedures for dish machine operation. Remove clean equipment from dish machine; place on racks to air dry, deliver dry, clean equipment to the proper storage area- Nourishment Center: Check Bulletin Board in nourishment center for general and/or special information. Check Infirmary for admits and dismissals - change labels if necessary. Assemble groceries necessary to make nourishments - i.e.: get refrigerated, frozen and shelf-stable items. Fill nourishments according to labels, using separate packing boxes for each delivery location according to posted list. Restock food items according to posted list. Keep area clean as assigned.
- Tray line service: Operate equipment, i.e.: steamers, steam tables, blenders, meat slicer, etc. to assist in preparation of menu items. Visually determine that products are of a standard quality. Read tally and bulk food chart to determine number of portions needed; be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide to ensure the proper number of portions is prepared; identify correct serving utensil needed for each food item. Read tray line ticket or production sheet and serve/portion food onto trays, bulk or predip individual dishes; with the correct food item and correct serving size on to individual trays, using repetitive motion.
- General Cleaning: Get cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals, accurately measure chemical concentration. Clean areas as assigned. Use appropriate cleaner, then rinse and sanitize using bleach water or other appropriate sanitizer. Sweep, wet mop floors. Place soiled laundry in laundry bag and remove trash to outside trash container.

Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, provides in home support for those who transition to the community and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.
