Position Title: Fitness Coordinator (PRN)
Overview: The Fitness Coordinator plans, organizes, and implements an all-inclusive fitness program, providing educational, social, emotional and physical development and well being of the residents. Reports to the Director of Wellness & Community Life.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive wellness program to include exercise classes, activity programs, and management of Fitness Center for residents
- Develop and deliver fitness and wellness educational information and programs to residents
- Physically instruct exercise classes, activity programs, and Fitness Center programming
- Provide supervision of all activity while stressing safety and proper use of fitness equipment
- Monitor day-to-day operations of scheduled programs and events
- Plan and coordinate exercise programs, classes, and fitness assessments to ensure resident needs are being met
- Supervise all aspects of Fitness Center including assisting residents with exercise equipment, attending to all resident needs, and cleaning equipment when necessary
- Maintain records on all fitness room users. Ensure Center rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements are followed
- Document and report all accidents and incidents to the Vitality Manager
- Assist in activity events and community involved activities
- Assist in transportation duties as needed
- Maintain current CPR certification
- Provide printed program informational materials regarding fitness events
- Provide support and assistance to the Vitality Manager as required
- Maintain clean and professional appearance
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education
- Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information
- Respond to all fire alarms and assist in the evacuation of residents when needed
- Cooperate with staff of other departments when needed
- Represent the organization through professional demeanor and attitude
- Provide quality customer service in all interactions with residents, guests and staff
- Perform other duties as required
You Have:
- Two-year degree/training in physical education, exercise/sports science, therapeutic recreation or related field; Four-year degree preferred
- 1-3 years experience in fitness related field and instructing group fitness classes for the geriatric population.
- Certified in group fitness instruction and/or certification in chair aerobics, arthritis exercise, Tai Chi, Pilates, Silver Sneakers and/or chair yoga.
