Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a Consideration for Hire List and to fill one (1) vacancy for the part-time classification of Fire Services Assistant with the Henderson Fire Department. The Consideration for Hire List may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of routine tasks while assisting in the administration, training, or logistics areas of the Fire Department; and performs related duties as assigned.

Position Information:

  • This is a part-time, Non-PERS eligible, position.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, wage increases, or union representation.
  • This position will work approximately 19 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school, or the equivalent,
  • Any training and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform satisfactorily on the job.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
  • Desirable: Enrollment in an accredited fire science program or fire science-related classes

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on dates yet to be determined. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above.

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
