Job description – Field Safety Manager for Mechanical Maintenance Contractor

Education – Skills

• Person with demonstrated proficiency/capability in the field of Industrial Safety
• Degree in safety field plus 5 years minimum industry experience

-or-

• 10+ years relevant industry experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong conflict management and resolution skills
• Experience with and understanding of the complexities of the Contractor-Client relationship
• Proficiency with office-side safety (software, written communications, interactions, etc.)
• Proficiency with field-side safety (task/work practical knowledge, verbal skills, conflict management)

Task List

• Office-side Safety
• Develop and deliver HSE training
• Client interface in context of Company objectives & team structure
• Risk assessment, JSA development
• Site safety program leader
• Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for inspection/training compliance
• Provide routine program updates to site and corporate management teams
• Case/Incident management
• Support supervision and management team during incident investigation
• Ensure assigned follow up tasks and/or training are completed in a timely manner
• Assist site supervision related to disciplinary actions, drug/alcohol program, etc.
• Field-side safety
• Field audits to review client, company and regulatory compliance
• Frequent work area visits to provide coaching for improvement/mentoring
• Support work crew and supervision to develop work activity safety improvements
• Interface with client safety personnel to address potential chemical exposure controls
• Use audit findings, lessons learned, and reviews to find and reinforce weak controls
• Be capable of wearing necessary safety equipment (eg. respirators, harnesses, etc.)

Schedule

• The position is a full-time, permanent position based in the Salt Lake City, UT, area
• Anticipated work hours are 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM, M-F
• During plant shutdowns or emergency maintenance situations workdays and hours may vary

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
